Working hours in September

In September, the Park of Military History will be open from Monday to Friday between 10 AM and 4 PM, and on Saturdays and Sundays between 10 AM and 6 PM. To visit the interior of the submarine and the P-111 police boat as an additional museum offer, prior reservation is mandatory by calling +386 (0)31 775 002 or emailing [email protected].

Between September 18 and 20, the ZgodoVikend (History Weekend) will take place – the largest event in the Park of Military History, which traditionally occurs on the third weekend of September.

As an introduction to the varied ZgodoVikend program, the traditional Vestirnga 2026 will be organized on Friday. As part of this, the Defense Administration will introduce the military conscripts of the 2008 generation, who will arrive for the occasion on richly decorated conscription wagons – just like the generations before them.

Saturday’s events will begin with a hike to Mt. Primož, featuring a thematic lecture in the former Italian underground Alpine Wall fortress and a guided tour of its interior. As part of the enriched program, visitors will then be able to join various guided tours of the collections and exhibitions, while diverse children’s workshops will entertain the youngest visitors. Within the accompanying program, an open door day will be held at the Stanislav Požar Barracks, where visitors can experience a tank ride and get a taste of life in the Slovenian Armed Forces uniform.

Sunday’s museum pulse will be enriched by numerous expert guided tours of various permanent and temporary exhibitions, offering participants a deeper insight into the content and background of individual exhibits and collections. In collaboration with partner museums, a diverse range of workshops and animations will be organized on this day, presenting selected historical chapters to the youngest visitors in an educational and entertaining way. The events will be complemented by film screenings, a mini military history literature fair, a presentation of vintage vehicles, and static and dynamic presentations of the Slovenian Armed Forces, Civil Protection, volunteer fire departments, and the Police. One of the main events of ZgodoVikend will be Sunday’s demonstration rides of vehicles from the driving fleet of the Military Museum of the Slovenian Armed Forces and the Park of Military History.
