Opening hours in July and August

30.June 2026

The Park of Military History will be open every day in July and August between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

The largest museum complex in Slovenia features a rich collection of military historical heritage, offering a unique insight into both national and world history.

In the Park of Military History, you can see exhibits ranging from a Stone Age bow to a jet aircraft. In addition to the extensive tank, artillery, and aviation collection, the museum’s “XXL” exhibits are particularly impressive with their dimensions and stories—a German military steam locomotive from World War II, a police boat, and the P-913 submarine, which you can also view from the inside. A walk through the exhibition The Road to Independence will reveal the turning point of the birth of the Slovenian state, while the exhibition Enigma – The Mysterious Backstage of War depicts the clash between German and Allied cryptological services during World War II.

As a modern museum center, the Park of Military History offers much more—a museum restaurant, a well-stocked museum shop, a motorhome rest area, and several pleasant walking and hiking trails.

At the Park of Military History, you can also try out the MiG-21bis aircraft simulator. The user sits in an original seat and operates the real controls of a MiG-21bis aircraft.

Between July 27 and August 2, a Summer Museum Week will take place at the Park of Military History, offering visitors several different guided tours of the collections and exhibitions during the peak of the summer season. Due to the large proportion of foreign visitors, the guided tours will be organized in English in addition to Slovenian.

To try out the MiG-21 flight simulator and to view the interior of the submarine and the P-111 police boat as an additional museum offer, an advance reservation is mandatory. Please book your time slot by calling +386 (0)31 775 002 or by emailing [email protected].
