The Living with Nature festival is a pleasant outdoor event for the whole family, where we will together explore how people once lived in harmony with nature and what we can still learn from it today.
In cooperation with Laris Survival School – an outdoor survival school – we will prepare engaging, playful and educational activities for children and adults alike, full of exploration, movement and authentic outdoor experiences.
25 June: Celebrate with Us
The Park of Military History invites you to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Slovenia.
The programme will include guided tours of museum exhibitions and collections, children’s workshops, film screenings, and a guided hike to Primož Hill with a tour of the interior of the Alpine Wall fortification.
27 July – 2 August: Summer Museum Week
At the height of the summer season, during the last week of July and the first days of August, the Park of Military History will enhance the holiday atmosphere with different events as part of the Summer Museum Week.
Between 27 July and 2 August, visitors will be able to gain deeper insight into the museum’s exhibitions and collections through various guided tours. Due to the large number of foreign visitors, guided tours will be organised not only in Slovene but also in English.
18–20 September: ZgodoVikend
ZgodoVikend is the largest event at the Park of Military History and traditionally takes place on the third weekend of September.
As an introduction to the rich ZgodoVikend programme, the traditional Vestirnga 2026 will be held on Friday, during which the Defence Administration will conduct the induction briefing for military conscripts of the 2008 generation. On this occasion, as in the past, they will arrive on richly decorated conscription wagons.
Saturday’s programme will begin with a hike to Primož Hill, accompanied by a thematic lecture held in the former Italian underground fortification of the Alpine Wall, followed by a guided tour of the fort’s interior. Visitors will then be able to take part in a variety of enhanced guided tours of the collections and exhibitions, while the youngest visitors will enjoy a range of children’s workshops.
As part of the accompanying programme, an open day will also be held at the Stanislav Požar Barracks, where visitors will experience what it is like to ride in a tank and gain insight into life in uniform in the Slovenian Armed Forces.
Sunday’s museum programme will be enriched by numerous expert-guided tours of permanent and temporary exhibitions, offering participants a deeper understanding of the content and background of individual exhibits and collections. In cooperation with partner museums, a diverse range of workshops and animations will also be organised, presenting selected historical themes to younger visitors in an educational and entertaining way.
The programme will further include film screenings, a mini fair of military history literature, a presentation of vintage vehicles, as well as static and dynamic displays by the Slovenian Armed Forces, fire brigades and the Police. One of the central events of ZgodoVikend will be the Sunday demonstration drives of vehicles from the operational collection of the Military Museum of the Slovenian Armed Forces and the Park of Military History.
